Ownership of Design Files
Keeping the copyright to our work is a standard practice in the creative industry, and it serves both our clients and our studio in several ways:
Protecting your investment: By retaining the copyright, we ensure that the original work we create for you remains protected. This prevents others from using, reproducing, or modifying it without authorisation. It safeguards the value of the work you've invested in.
Maintaining quality and consistency: As a design studio, we take pride in delivering high-quality, consistent work. Retaining the copyright allows us to control how our designs are used, ensuring they are not altered or misused in a way that could compromise their integrity or effectiveness.
Future adaptations and revisions: Often, clients return for updates or adaptations to their designs. With copyright ownership, we can efficiently handle these requests, ensuring that any modifications align with the original vision and maintain the quality of the work.
Legal protection and liability: Owning the copyright gives us the legal authority to protect the work from infringement. In case of any misuse or unauthorised use by third parties, having copyright ownership allows us to take necessary legal actions to protect both your interests and our creative integrity.
Transparent collaboration: Despite retaining the copyright, we provide our clients with licenses or usage rights tailored to their specific needs. This ensures clarity on how the designs can be used while maintaining the necessary protections for both parties.
However, sometimes you need to edit and manipulate files in a way that alters the original form. Once the one–off fee of £2’000 is paid to us we will share all Adobe Illustrator files and issue you with a receipt that outlines how ownership of the brand fully belongs to you. Ownership is automatically transferred to you upon receipt of payment. Our T&C’s stipulate how we own all of the design work; the IP and Copyright belongs to us but we are happy to hand over all copyright and design files to you for a one–off fee if you wish.
