Studio WesT

Studio West offers support to emerging and newly established London based artists, providing them with an inviting space to showcase their art.

Notting Hill based Studio West came to us when they wanted a brand identity to ensure that they maintained consistency across all platforms.

To begin the design process, we gathered opinions from artists to learn more about their relationships with galleries and what they would like to see from Studio West. To place the spotlight on the work of the artists, the new brand identity is designed to play a supporting role, remaining neutral to give the art room to breathe.

Through colour, the Studio West design reflects the emphasis on the local environment. To let the artwork that they represent stand out, we chose a minimal, contemporary typeface and developed a typographic system that would form the primary body copy and captions. Printed marketing materials include outdoor vinyl, an A4 wallet to house invoices and compliments slips, business cards and more.

To complement the printed marketing materials, we built a website with a platform called Art Logic and added custom code for bespoke features. We worked with the gallery's key pillars to create a social media strategy. This included designing editable templates to spotlight upcoming exhibitions, share information with followers, celebrate Studio West's community and encourage future collaborations.

Studio West opened with a show by two female artists; Victoria Cantons and Xu Yang, which was followed by THE REALITY IN WHYTCH YOU CREATE, by Sholto Blissett, Lydia Makin, Alfie Rouy, Anna Woodward, Salomé Wu. Watch this space for more.
