Object of Doubt

When objects of the past sit uneasily with contemporary values, some thing needs to be done. Object of Doubt, cured by Kirsty White looks at the ownership, preservation and destruction of artworks and cultural heritage. Kirsty put together 8 artists who responded to this theme in some shape or form' she wanted a visual identity that referenced statues and monuments, and alluded to how certain subjects had become problematic in modern times.

Object of Doubt seeks to engage in these debates, presenting a variety of works by artists whose practices interrogate these themes. Here's an identity we designed for the show which was hosted at the Danielle Arnaud Gallery,2019 and included works by artists Céline Condorelli, Alexandra Domanović, Jamie Fitzpatrick, Patrick Hough, Maryam Jafri, Emilio Moreno and Laura Mulvey & Mark Lewis.

The overarching them and story of the exhibition is communicated throughout all marketing for the exhibition; collage communicates history and materialism (interesting how potent sculptures are made from a meaningless material) whilst a bright and clashing colour palette communicates contemporary culture. Ancient typeface Trajan is coupled with GT America and violent brushstrokes reference the dismantling or destruction of cultural heritage.
